My name is Eskeila and I'm a Latin immigrant living in Canada, a Venezuelan girl trying to set roots in this part of the world. I started my journey in 2014, with many doubts and fears of leaving the place I called home for so many years. Getting here wasn't easy but, so far, it has been a wonderful life experience and I would like to share some of my learning.
I grew a passion for writing while studying political science. I used to write often with academic purposes, preparing political analysis and articles for different publications. Now, as a public relations student, this passion is proving to be quite handy. My intention is to use that same enthusiasm to write a different, more personal story.
As latinos, we share a common background and culture. Let's be clear: we are not all the same, we don't speak the same Spanish and we don't eat the same food. We are different and unique in many ways, but we still form a close community glued together by our language. Our journey and experience as immigrants has brought us closer. This is our common ground when we are outside of our home country. Here, all our differences fade away.
